A Unique reference work
for experienced upholsterers
With almost 400 crystal-clear photos and explanatory illustrations, this is probably the most thorough treatment of the foundational elements of the upholsterer’s craft ever published.
The original edition was the end result of a project to develop an upholstery textbook for use in Swedish vocational schools. Two of Sweden’s leading master upholsterers worked on several pieces of furniture, providing exploded views of the pieces in various stages of completion. Their work was documented and published for the first time in 1988.
The first edition quickly sold out and was never reprinted. Not until 2019 was it possible to recreate the book in cooperation with its authors, and now we can also introduce an English edition. Though minor improvements were made following a thorough review of the 1988 edition, the factual content of the book remains essentially unchanged. The authors got it right the first time.
The Upholsterer’s Craft is not a basic introductory course for beginners, but a popular 240-page reference work which experienced upholsterers use in their professional lives. It is indispensable for anyone interested in furniture upholstery. It is endorsed by the Swedish Association of Master Upholsterers who published the original 1988 edition.
